Challenge Wales receives invitation to Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant

We have some fantastic news to share with you! Welsh young people will have the opportunity of a lifetime to be part of one of the most exciting global events in 2012 as Challenge Wales heads to London to be part of the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant in June.

The 72-foot sail training vessel Challenge Wales recently received its invitation to take part in the event which will see the largest flotilla ever assembled on the Thames in modern times and the Royal family aboard the Royal Barge. Challenge Wales will be on show in St Katharine’s Dock alongside other well known vessels, including the world-famous and iconic; Gypsy Moth.

Challenge Wales will start her 5 day residential Jubilee Youth Sailing Voyage from Gosport (near Southampton) towards the end of May and will sail into the Thames passing famous landmarks along the way finishing with bunting and flags flying a few days prior to the Jubilee Pageant.

Young people from Wales will also be invited to be on Challenge Wales for the weekend of the Pageant itself and will represent the young people of Wales and the work of the Challenge Wales charity.
