A Shout-Out to 15 – 24 Year Olds As Youth Panel Is Launched

Challenge Wales has had a really great 2012, from the Queen’s Jubilee to meeting HRH The Countess of Wessex. From youth voyages to Lundy Island, West Wales and Northern Ireland to our first Tall Ships Race…and yep we picked up another trophy along the way too.

As we see more and more young people sail training with Challenge Wales we need to progress as a charity and that is why we are looking for young people aged 15 –  24  to be part of a new Challenge Wales Youth Panel and help contribute to us moving forwards.

The concept of the Youth Panel is to get a group of young people together to use their input to help direct the charity, to help raise awareness of Challenge Wales where it is most needed and reach those young people in the right way and to ensure that young people’s views are heard.

You have to admit, and our volunteers will no doubt happily confirm that we at Challenge Wales are a fun and happy bunch of people.  We are looking for between 8 and 10 young people to be on the youth panel which will meet between three and four times a year in Cardiff. You don’t need to have sailed on Challenge Wales to get involved. But if you have already been sailing with us then that is fine too.

Being on the youth panel can also be a good thing personally, as it will help young people develop personal skills in communication and team work and is something to put on the CV.

So, do you fancy a new ‘Challenge’ for 2013? If you think this could be you and you want to find out more then ping us an email. We will be more than happy to send you some further details.
